Happiness is ours
to take for the choosing.
Either way,
it's all an illusion.

All the rules
we never follow.
All the pride
we've learned to swallow.

All caught up
in society's decay.
Chasing after
what pushes away.

Falling just short
when trying to measure up.
We give it our all
but it's never enough.

Striving to be normal,
but don't know what that is.
Constantly we're searching
for what may not exist.

So damn tired of hurting
when we dare to fall.
Yet do others the same
as we question it all.

Feeling the pain
of losing all hope.
Letting ourselves fall
only to be saved by the rope.

I tried to submit this as a scrap, but got confused and don't think it would let me. I don't think this is finished yet, but I've been stuck on it for a while so I may never finish it.

Hmmm... already been said, but this has awesome potential.

And since its' been awhile from the last update, I demand it to be finished! Muahahahaha!

*cough*

Well, so far a can see a wave a emotion, starting at consideration, then fact(oid?), then a resolution (in the future?).

Very cool so far!

Later and all that jazz,
Holly

Yeah, I plan on adding more to it, I've just hit a major block lately and can't think of anything. Have patience, I will finish it....eventually.....

illussions of happiness?
It is in some way an illussion
but so is being unhappy...
live dark or live light,
both have positive & negative results.
accept the whole spectrum of feelings
happiness is not a destination

:)

I agree slightly with what you said, (depending upon my moods, of course). However, I do disagree with your last comment. "happiness is not a destination"----isn't it? Everyone strives to be happy. Give me one instance where something was done with the goal of happiness not in there somewhere; happiness is a desired destination for everyone, whether they want to admit it or not.

It's good. I especially like the 2nd verse:
All the rules
we never follow.
All the pride
we've learned to swallow.

And I'm questioning on the 4th & 5th verses: What or who are you trying to measure up to? And what is normal? (& even if we knew, who wants to be normal?) Be you. Those who know & love you, do so for who you are, whether it be in spite of you or because of you, most likely some of both as is with all of us. If you see something you want to change in Dorothy, do it. If you're thinking someone else sees something they want to change in you, screw them! Be yourself, Dorothy. You can't fall short of being your own self.

By the way, congrats on the AH guy. I hope everything works out the best way for you that it can. He's certainly been the inspiration for some good poetry! Keep writing.

Also, please remember what I said about searching for your happiness in another person. There's your illusion. It's in you. Be you. You'll find it.

Thank you!
